Pearson Field is to me as memorable as Merrill C. Meigs Field KCGX was. Why? Because it was the best scenery available for FS2004 in my opinion. If you remember Flight Zone 02 Portland by Flight 1, you obviously remember how great Pearson Field was.
Bill Womack is the talented airport creator of this wonderful scenery for X-Plane 11. For people who do not know, he was part of Orbx developer team in the past and then left to create iBlue Yonder to develop FSX airports. First creation for X-Plane 11 was the wonderful Plum Island and Minute Man scenery (that I own too). Nantucket (that I own too!!) came after and finally Pearson Field KVUO (...that I obviously own too: is it necessary at this stage to mention that I'm a big fan of Bill's sceneries?!).
In the meantime, he joined back the Orbx team to continue the development of airports for X-Plane 11 while keeping iBlue Yonder active.
If you don't know this field yet, it is a lovely small General Aviation city owned non-towered airport located north of Portland and right on the north side of the Columbia river in Oregon, US.
It has a short and narrow runway (3,300 x 60 ft) with scenic views on the Portland's bay. It is very fun to fly to and from that airport, which is covered in the West Expansion subscription of PilotEdge ATC services. It is interestingly located within the Class Charlie of Portland International airport. If you do not pay attention to your exact position, you can easily bust the Charlie airspace especially on the East side of Pearson Field. On the West side it is not easier though, since arriving from the West to land straight in for runway 08 place your flight path in the final path of runways 10 at KPDX!
Lot of details brought to one of the best scenery available so far for X-Plane 11, that breathes both aviation and flight simulation history.
I won't be able to tell you how beautiful the area and the airport are in this article so I really encourage you to click on my YouTube discovery flight video I did to notice it by yourself :)
